Book for Every Child a
Success!
In November 2007, the Fort
Saskatchewan Public Library Board put out a call for help to residents
of Fort Saskatchewan to donate new children’s books to be included in
Christmas Hampers.
“The response from the community
was overwhelming,” says library trustee and program coordinator Margaret
Bubel. 1441 new books were collected for children of all ages – more
than enough books to ensure every child in a family receiving a
Christmas Hamper also received a new, age appropriate, book.
“We are especially grateful to
the schools that participated in the book drive,” says Bubel. Staff and
students from the following seven local schools where instrumental in
collecting books to be included in the hampers: Pope John Paul XXIII,
Fort Saskatchewan Senior High School, Fort Saskatchewan Christian
School, Rudolph Hennig School, Our Lady of Angels, Win Ferguson
Community School, and Fort Saskatchewan Elementary School.
A Book for Every Child is run by the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library
Board every second year. Enough books were collected to be included in
hampers for the Christmas 2008 season. The Fort Saskatchewan Public
Library Board would like to extend their sincere thanks to all who
donated books for the program.
