What is E-mail Notification? E-mail notification is an optional method for us to let you know
that items you have checked out are overdue or that items you have
requested have arrived at the Circulation Desk and are ready for
pickup.
How Do I Sign Up?
Complete the form at the Circulation Desk or
our E-mail notification form at the bottom of the page
When Are E-mail Notifications Sent?
Hold notifications will be sent the day after a hold has
arrived.
E-mail notification for overdue items will be sent 3 days
after the item is due.
What Will My E-mail Notices Look Like?
Inbox will read a “Message from Fort Saskatchewan Public
Library”.
The subject line will read “Fort Saskatchewan Public
Library notice”.
Hold notices will display the title, barcode and expiry date
the item is being held until.
Overdue notices will display the title, barcode and due date
of the item.
Once you are sent an e-mail notice, you are responsible for
ensuring it is read and acted upon in a timely manner.
What If My E-mail Address Changes? If your e-mail address changes, it is your responsibility to
inform the Library. You can notify us using either of the methods
listed in the “How Do I Sign Up” section above.
E-mail notices returned to the Library will result in your e-mail
address being removed from your account. We will then resume
notifying you through our automated telephone messaging system, or
by printed mail.
How Do I Cancel E-mail Notification? If you no longer wish to receive e-mail notification, or prefer
to receive telephone or print notices, please inform the library as
soon as possible.
My Account Shows An Item In “Requested Items Ready for
Pickup” So Why Have I Not Received E-mail Notification?
Our system runs a process at the end of each day that checks
for items that have arrived on hold. When it finds an item, it
generates e-mail, a telephone call or a paper notice. These
notices are printed and sorted, and are sent to customers the
following morning.
The information in your Account, however, is updated
constantly. If you get to your account first – the information
you are viewing online is a day ahead of the notice you would be
sent. Come in today to check out that item, the system will
never need to generate a notice.
What About Confidentiality And Security?
Fort Saskatchewan Public
Library is committed to confidentiality for all our customers.
All personal information is collected under the authority of
Section 33(c) of the Alberta Freedom of Information and
Protection of Privacy Act. We will not release your e-mail
address or personal information to any outside source without a
legal court order. We will not use your e-mail address for any
purpose other than notification for library items related to
your account.
Sharing an e-mail
account with family members?
Please note that e-mail notices will list your name and
the titles you have available on hold for pickup, or items that
are overdue. It is up to you to decide if you want this type of
information arriving in a shared account, or if you wish to
provide separate e-mail accounts for individual family library
cardholders.
Multiple cards in the
family? All cards
need an e-mail address entered to prevent telephone calls or
paper notices. Please talk to circulation staff for help.
