Freading E-Books
Freading (“Free” + “Reading”) is an exciting new ebook service available at the Fort Saskatchewan Public Library. Freading provides easy access to a collection of over 12,000 titles in all genres, with new titles added regularly. You will find a wide variety of unique titles that enhance the ebook collection already available through our other ebook service, OverDrive.
As the name suggests, Freading is free to FSPL card-holders, based on a token – or virtual currency – system. Most importantly, Freading offers simultaneous access to all ebook titles, so there is no waiting list!

How does the token system work?
Tokens are the virtual currency Freading uses to exchange for e-book downloads. Everyone gets 6 tokens per week to spend on e-books. Books have a cost of 1, 2 or 4 tokens, and the cost for each book appears in the top left corner of the book’s cover. Additional tokens appear in your account on Sunday night. They roll over for four weeks. At the end of the fourth week, unused tokens disappear. Your account will then contain the original allocation of 6 tokens, and you will begin a new four-week rollover cycle.
