2017 Regional Writer in Residence: Richard Van Camp!

Richard Van Camp comes to us through the Metro Edmonton Federation of Libraries, a partnership between Fort Saskatchewan, Strathcona County, St. Albert and Edmonton public libraries which works to share resources and collaborate on programs and good practices. The Federation has appointed two Writers in Residence in 2017: Richard Van Camp (regional) and David van Belle (EPL).

Events

Graphic Novels | Wednesday, May 17 | 7-8:30 | Program Room
If you're a lover of graphic novels or even if you've never read one before, you'll love to hear from Richard about the process.

Indigenous Movie Night | Thursday, May 18 | 7-9pm | Makerspace
Join us for a fun and engaging screening of Indigenous short films, hosted by Richard.

Archiving | Monday, May 29 | 1-4pm | Makerspace
Do you have photos, slides, VHS tapes, and cassettes that you're hoping to preserve? Convert them to digital and talk about memoir writing, archiving, and recording memories for years to come.

Workshop for Writers| Tuesday, June 6 | 7-8:30pm | Makerspace
Join us for a fun and helpful workshop for all levels and genres of writers.

Special Storytime for Little Ones | Wednesday, June 7 | 10:30-11am | Program Room
Join us for this special storytime during which Richard will read some of his acclaimed works for young children.

Open Mic Night | Friday, June 9 | 6pm | Fireplace area
Richard will host this fun after-hours evening of stories and poetry. Bring a short piece of work to share with the audience or come to listen to the authors in your own community. $5 cover. Wine and cheese will be served.

Teen Book Club  | Monday, June 12 | 7pm | Teen area
Joining teen book club this month is Richard Van Camp, author of A Blanket of Butterflies. Stop in for great conversation, and insider knowledge of what it takes to create a graphic novel. Books are available at the Circulation Desk! Snacks provided. Everyone welcome!

Adult Book Club | Wednesday, June 14 | 7pm | Fireplace area
This month's book selection is The Moon of Letting Go by Richard Van Camp. Richard will attend book club so make sure you come by for this special event! Pick up a copy from the Circulation desk. New members are always welcome. Refreshments available.
