Your Library Card

Anyone who resides in or owns property in the City of Fort Saskatchewan may obtain a Fort Saskatchewan Public Library borrower’s card. People living outside of the City may obtain a card by paying the non-resident fee. Your Fort Saskatchewan Public Library borrower’s card can also be used at the Strathcona County Library in Sherwood Park.

Companies and organizations may obtain a Corporate Card.

Persons with borrower’s cards from Edmonton Public Library, Gibbons Public Library, and St. Albert Public Library may apply for a Reciprocal Card (charged at the same rate as a local resident).

Current library members may apply for a TAL Card (The Alberta Library) which gives limited borrowing privileges to most Alberta libraries. For more information on the TAL card, visit the TAL website or ask an FSPL staff member.

How do I get a card?

If you are an adult aged 18 or over, you can obtain a Fort Saskatchewan Public Library card at the Library by paying the card fee and presenting one piece of identification (such as driver's license, tax receipt or utility bill) showing your identity and current address.

Children and young adults require the signature of a parent or legal guardian. The parent/guardian will remain responsible for all late, lost or damaged items.

You must renew your card each year.

How long can I keep my card?

Your card is intended to be kept for a lifetime but you must renew it every year by showing current identification and paying all fees. If you have signed as a Guarantor for someone and they have outstanding fees you will be required to pay these as well before renewing your card. If you have an Alberta Library membership (TAL card), ask to have it renewed when renewing your Fort Saskatchewan Public Library membership.

What is my Personal Identification Number (P.I.N.)?

Your P.I.N. is a security code used when accessing your library account information or placing holds on library materials. FSPL uses the last four digits of your home telephone number as your PIN.

What do I do if my card is lost or stolen?

Report the loss in person at the library or call 998-4275. Please notify the Library as soon as possible following the loss of your card. You are responsible for any items borrowed on your card until the card is reported missing.

How do I change my name, address or telephone number?

Please notify us of any change in name, address or telephone number. This can be done in person at the library or by phone (998-4275).
